City of Centerville <br /> Council Meeting Minutes <br /> September 12,2018 <br /> years. Council Member King questioned the necessity of holding land that is owned by the <br /> school. Superintendent Dietz stated that the School Board has and will continue to entertain the <br /> sale of said land. Council Member Love stated that he was shocked that the outdoor hallway was <br /> not completed previously and that he is very proud of the School District as it is rated very high <br /> for the state. <br /> Superintendent Deitz stated that the District is attempting to attract highly educated teachers <br /> from a diverse work force including through a special partnership with Mankato State University <br /> which provides student teachers to the District. <br /> Council Member Koski questioned the plan to enclose the walkway and whether an outside <br /> agency was contracted for services and Superintendent Deitz stated that in 2013 and 2014 needs <br /> were assessed and it was discussed along with consultants. <br /> Mayor Paar stated that funding is not due to wasteful spending but rather the funding formulas <br /> through the legislature. He stated that the district and community are strong, the school provides <br /> high testing scores along with graduation rates and have a proven track record. He stated that <br /> residents need to contact their legislators regard equal funding formulas and the requested levy is <br /> about half of a family's cell phone bill for the year. <br /> Superintendent Deitz thanked the Council for their time. Council thanked school representatives <br /> for their presentations. <br /> V. PUBLIC HEARING <br /> 1. None. <br /> VI. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES <br /> 1. August 22, 2018 City Council Meeting Minutes <br /> Mayor Paar offered an opportunity for Council to request amendments. <br /> Motion by Council Member Montain, seconded by Council Member Koski to Approve the <br /> August 22, 2018 City Council Meeting Minutes as Presented.
