City of Centerville <br /> Council Meeting Minutes <br /> November 14,2018 <br /> regarding types of investments and Director DeJong stated Certificates of Deposit. Discussion <br /> ensued regarding shopping for better rates and when was the best time. Director DeJong stated <br /> that only upon the original issue. Administrator Statz provided clarification by stating that all <br /> investments are not in Certificates of Deposit or in the same depository. Attorney Glaser stated <br /> that a formal resolution should be brought before Council for this action. <br /> Council Member Love stated that the Police Governing Board meeting had been postponed until <br /> January 14, 2018. <br /> Council Member Koski stated that the Planning & Zoning Commission discussed Alex's Lawn <br /> and Turf, the Comprehensive Plan with regards to density and potentially adding a new zoning <br /> district (Service District). <br /> Council Member Montain stated that he recently attended the Anoka County Fire Protection <br /> Council where pagers and radios are now obsolete and that the City's share of the 2019 budget <br /> has been increased by $18 over last year. He stated that three (3) members of the Centennial Fire <br /> District graduated from the Anoka Fire Academy last evening. Reported that the Centennial <br /> First District is ramping up for the Santa parade and food drive which was a huge success last <br /> year as the donations remain local. He stated that he attended the Parks & Recreation Committee <br /> meeting where they discussed skate night, the sledding hill and a date would be set at the next <br /> meeting with advertising commencing shortly thereafter. He recognized and thanked those that <br /> served in the military as Veterans Day had just passed and congratulated Council Member D <br /> Love and Ms. Lakso on their Council seats and the Mayor Jeff Paar on his Mayoral seat. He <br /> thanked Mr. Greg Nohner for running for Council and Council Member King for his years of <br /> service. <br /> Mayor Paar stated that information would be circulated on social media regarding the Santa <br /> parade and that the City was looking for 16 year old and up individuals for Seasonal Rink <br /> Attendants. He reported that he, Administrator Statz and Council Member Koski attended a <br /> recent Local Government Officials Meeting where Ms. Jacquel Hajder, Anoka County Economic <br /> Development Specialist who is marketing all of Anoka County to businesses through avenues <br /> such as social media, their web site, presentations, etc. He stated that she is assisting <br /> communities with their avenues for marketing also but has become extremely consumed by <br /> communities for her assistance. He also reported that several weeks prior he had met with Mr. <br /> John Robert Smith,previous Mayor of Meridian, Mississippi and the Chairman of Transportation <br /> for America organization. Mayor Paar stated that they met to discuss transportation, light rail, <br /> park & ride, bus routes, etc. Mayor Paar reported that a resident of Centerville (Glen Simonson) <br /> was recently featured on Inventures, Karell and the Quad Community Press for his Gobagit <br /> invention for an innovative hand card that will hold a bag for easy use in your garage, yard, etc. <br /> with ease of movability also. <br /> Mayor Paar desired to wish the audience a Happy Thanksgiving and safe travels. <br /> Administrator Statz stated that Rice Creek Watershed District Board of Managers has an opening <br /> for a three (3) year term. He stated the importance of the position as a substantial amount of <br /> money is given to this agency and used within the Watershed area which impacts the <br /> environment and property owners alike. <br /> Page 7 of 8 <br /> 26 <br />
