CITY OF CENTERVILLE <br /> REQUEST FOR <br /> COUNCIL ACTION Verville <br /> Agenda Item# Department: Requested Council Meeting Date: <br /> Administration November 28, 2018 <br /> TITLE OF ISSUE: <br /> Rice Creek Watershed District Request to Repair Anoka-Washington Judicial Ditch 43 <br /> BACKGROUND AND SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: <br /> Rice Creek Watershed District is requesting approval to repair Anoka-Washington Judicial Ditch 43, using their <br /> authority as a watershed district in lieu of using authority under the Drainage Code. The Drainage Code allows <br /> assessments to benefiting properties (anyone whose property drains to the ditch). Using the watershed's <br /> authority allows the watershed to do the repairs out of their general fund budget, rather than assessing property <br /> owners. In urbanized areas, this is the preferred method of financing these projects, due to the extreme <br /> complexity of drainage systems in such an environment.
