City of Centerville <br /> Parks&Recreation Committee <br /> January 2,2019 <br /> 2. Skate & Sled Night —January 19, 2019 from 6pm to 9pm at Laurie LaMotte <br /> Park. Finalize event details & volunteer list: <br /> Supplies: Committee Member Amundsen will purchase the remaining supplies <br /> needed: hot chocolate mix, graham cracks, Hersey chocolate squares & <br /> marshmallows, cups, etc. <br /> Advertising: Flyers to be distributed; information in Friday Flash, Facebook, <br /> Twitter, City Website, Sandwich Board and Reader Sign in front of the City <br /> Offices. <br /> Flyers: Committee Member Waeghe has finalized the flyer for this event. The <br /> sledding activity will have distance contests with prizes for the winners. Flyers to <br /> be placed in various businesses, daycares, gas stations, etc. throughout the area. <br /> Music: Committee Member Peterson will contact Mr. Tom Lee to request his <br /> assistance with setting up the equipment for the music. <br /> Bonfire: Old skids will need to be picked up <br /> Volunteers: Most of the other committee members plan to volunteer. Additional <br /> volunteers will be needed. Committee Member Waeghe has reached out to the <br /> Police and Fire Departments to request some volunteers. Committee Members <br /> Peterson and Waeghe are unable to attend and help at this event due to other <br /> obligations. <br /> 3. Skate Night& Hayride—February 9, 2019 <br /> The City Council approved the increase of $300, from $1000 to $1300 as <br /> requested at the December 5, 2018 P & R meeting. The deposit of$100 has been <br /> sent to Bunker Park Stables. Committee Member Errickson-Grahek was not at <br /> the January meeting, so it was unknown if she was able to find a less expensive <br /> alternate. Because the next meeting is on February 6�h, just 3 days prior to this <br /> event, any new information will be looked at for the 2020 event. <br /> Final planning for these events will be completed at the February 6th P & R <br /> meeting. <br /> V. COMMITTEE BUSINESS (NEW) <br /> 1. Anoka County Parks' Single Track Trail Grant Application <br /> Anoka County Parks is requesting a letter of support from the City for a grant <br /> application to construct a number of "Single Track" trails in the regional park <br /> adjacent to Centerville. These trails are for mountain bike and fat tire bike riders and <br /> have become increasingly popular in recent years. A map of the proposed trails is <br /> available at the City offices. <br /> Motion made by Committee Member Seeley, seconded by Committee Member <br /> Peterson to recommend to the City Council to issue a letter of support to Anoka <br /> County Parks for their grant application to construct Single Track Trails in the <br /> Rice Creek Chain of Lakes Park Reserve.
