CITY OF CENTERVILLE <br /> REQUEST FOR <br /> COUNCIL ACTION Verville <br /> Agenda Item# Department: Requested Council Meeting Date: <br /> Administration February 13, 2019 <br /> TITLE OF ISSUE: <br /> Election to Not Waive Statutory Tort Limits <br /> BACKGROUND AND SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: <br /> Each year, the League of Minnesota Cities Insurance Trust (LMCIT) asks City Councils, as part of the <br /> insurance contract renewal to decide if they want to waive the Minnesota State statutory liability limits. Those <br /> limits are $500,000 for an individual claimant and $1,500,000 for all claimants for a single incident. If liability <br /> limits are waived, then the liability limit goes up to $2,000,000 per claimant and per incident. Staff is proposing <br /> that the City Council elect to not waive the liability limits,just as it has in the past.
