As a Centennial Lakes Police Department chaplain, I provide comfort, consolation and understanding,
spiritual and practical advice to persons confronted with a traumatic crisis or death as a result of an accident,
suicide, homicide or other traumatic event. Victims and survivors are given appropriate information to put
them in contact with agencies or organizations to assist and support them further after my presence with
them is no longer needed.
Additionally, I provide spiritual and practical guidance, counsel, advice and support to all members (sworn
and civilian) of the department and to their families when requested or in time of need.
Nine times during the year a chaplain was requested to a residence or scene for assistance. Three of those
requests were handled by the Centennial and Lexington Fire Chaplain as I was unavailable.
Throughout the year, many hours were spent meeting with officers and staff at the department, in my home,
or at a neutral location of their choosing. Always remembering to pray for them, I thank God for each one
of them and their service, while asking for continued wisdom in their decisions, guidance and protection,
strength and knowledge as they faithfully serve our communities.
Upon completion of their field training and after they have had opportunities to become comfortable on
their patrol shift, I ask each new officer if I can ride along with them to get to know them better. Three
officers allowed me that privilege this past year for which I was most grateful.
In November we sadly had to say goodbye to one of our recently retired clerical workers who passed away
suddenly. Nancy Noren served with the department for 18 years and became a dear friend with all. I was
honored to have had a part in her memorial service which was attended by many current and former officers,
community service officers, and department clerical staff and community members.
The year ended with a holiday social gathering where stories were shared, and all were able to relax and
unwind while getting to know one another better. A short remembrance of Nancy was spoken, and I was
pleased to offer a prayer for the department, the officers and staff and communities we serve.
Respectfully,
C"p4usf,J0e4 HMkMW&
2018 Annual Report CENTENNIAL LAKES POLICE DEPATMENT
