CITY OF CENTERVILLE <br /> REQUEST FOR <br /> COUNCIL ACTION Verville <br /> Agenda Item# Department: Requested Council Meeting Date: <br /> IX.4 Administration April 24, 2019 <br /> TITLE OF ISSUE: <br /> Authorization to Purchase Computers, SCADA Software Upgrade and Installation Services <br /> BACKGROUND AND SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: <br /> Staff is requesting authorization to order computers and upgraded software to upgrade the SCADA <br /> (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition) system. During the budget process, we discussed replacing <br /> computers due to discontinued support for the Windows 7 operating system. We had neglected to look at the <br /> SCADA equipment that monitors wells,pumps, and lift stations for our water and sewer utility systems. We <br /> have experienced intermittent problems since the systems are always on. In discussions with our long-time <br /> support vendor, it has been recommended to upgrade the software and purchase new computers. The system is <br /> mission critical to notify public works personnel whenever there is a situation that may cause our water or <br /> sewer system to break down.
