FETE DES LACS—JULY 16—21, 2019 Fete des Lacs Committee The festival's committee met on Monday, April 15 and moved towards finalizing the list of events and times. Sponsorships are starting to come in, as we've gotten commitments from several local businesses already. Thanks to the hard work of Pat Branch, we've secured several very nice prizes for the Paddle des Lacs canoe/kayak/paddleboard event including an Explorer Plus canoe paddle from Bending Branches ($130 value; see below). No, seriously, this time he's coming. O Centennial Fire District The Steering Committee met on Thursday, April 18 and discussed a planned reorganization in conjunction with the retirement of the department's Assistant Chief. The committee gave direction to staff to further explore a model which incorporates a limited number of duty crew staff and eliminates one of the full-time officer positions. An application was submitted to CenterPoint Energy for their Community Partnership Grant. If received, funds would help pay for newly designed firefighter"hoods." The new hoods reduce cancer risks. The grant request was for $1,800, with a 1:1 match required. 174
