From: Douglas Shipp
To: Mark Statz
Subject: Dock & Jump Placement
Date: Friday, August 30, 2019 9:39:36 AM
Attachments: Jump & Dack Placement.pdf
:atilio® This email originated outside our organization; please use caution.
Good Morning Mark,
Attached please find an aerial map depicting the proposed winter storage location of Bald
Eagle's dock system and jump. We have already positioned and collapsed the docks near the
southernmost property line, and are hoping to locate the jump next to the docks. The overall
size of our jump requires a lowboy trailer and MnDOT oversize load permitting in order to
transport it via roadways for winter storage. This method is cost -prohibitive for our club, and
causes damage to the jump frame.
With the side curtains removed, our jump has a rectangular footprint of 14ft wide by
approximately 24ft long. Our hope is to place it next to our docks on shore, while avoiding the
sewer manhole to allow for emergency access. The ramp deck will be folded down to the
supporting structure to reduce its profile view as much as possible. We estimate its folded
height will not exceed 4ft, and would likely be less. I expect it to be very close to the same
height as our docks when on shore. We performed some rough measurements from the land
side riprap to the manhole cover, and believe we have 24ft of clearance between these two
points, in case we cannot maneuver the jump far enough south to avoid the manhole
altogether. I'm confident that we can maintain adequate clearance for access. The jump frame
is set inside the ramp surface on the approach end and sides, and will be flush with the deck
on the takeoff side when collapsed. We will purchase a tarp large enough to conceal the jump
if the City of Centerville and the Parks and Recreation Committee so desires. This will also
potentially conceal our docks while in storage.
We have postponed our club's work day for jump removal pending your approval of our
placement plan. Our next proposed date is Thursday, Sept. 5. Will Centerville please allow us
to store our jump next to our docks in Trailside Park over the winter?
Thank you for your consideration. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions,
need me to clarify any part of our plan, or would like me to address your Parks and Recreation
Committee directly.
Sincerely,
Doug Shipp
Bald Eagle Waterski Shows, Inc.
651-329-1022
