A RESOLUTION APPOINTING ELECTION JUDGES FOR THE UPCOMING PRIMARY, <br />SPECIAL ELECTION AND PRESIDENTIAL NOMINATION PRIMARY <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Minnesota State Statute 204B.21, subd. 2, the City Council of the City of <br />Centerville must select and appoint election judges for the upcoming Primary, Special and Presidential <br />Nomination Primary Elections (November 5, 2019, February 11 and March 3, 2020; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Clerk has advertised for individuals interested in serving in the capacity of election <br />judge, contacted individuals provided by the County through lists according to Minnesota State Statute <br />200.02, subd. 7 utilized previously appointed judges or a combination of all to compile the list below of <br />those that Council will consider appointing; and <br />WHEREAS, all of the listed individuals are required to receive training either in the capacity of head <br />judge or election judge as required by Minnesota State Statute 204B.25 and if any of the individuals <br />listed below are not trained, the Election Administrator/Head Judge has the duty and responsibility to <br />not allow that individual to serve in the capacity of head or election judge; and <br />Teresa Bender (Elect. Head Judge) Marcia Bartels (Judge) Norma Essex (Judge) <br />Janis Hackman (Judge) Judy Landucci (Judge) Ellen Paulseth (Judge) <br />John Thill (Judge) Heidi Errickson-Grahek (Judge) James Weatherhead (Judge) <br />WHEREAS, THE City Council appoints Ms. Kris Sweeney as Deputy Clerk for the purpose of <br />conducting the Primary, Special and Presidential Nomination Primary Elections in conjunction with <br />(due to excessive workload) or in place of the City Clerk (due to absence). <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />CENTERVILLE, MINNESOTA: <br />1. Authorizes the Election Administrator/Head Judge to deny an individual the opportunity to <br />serve as a Head Judge or Election Judge due to failure to receive proper training per <br />Minnesota State Statute 204B.25. <br />2. Appoints the above stated individuals for the Primary, Special and Presidential Nomination <br />Primary Elections to serve in the capacity of head judge or election judges if trained <br />according to Minnesota State Statute 204B.25 with the assignments and schedule subject to <br />the discretion of the City Clerk or designee. <br />PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council this September 25, 2019. <br />Attest• <br />City` Clerk Mayor <br />
