CITY OF CENTERVILLE REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION Agenda Item # Department: Requested Council Meeting Date: February 12, 2020 Parks and Recreation/Public Works VII.6 TITLE OF ISSUE: Donation of Lights BACKGROUND AND SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: Centerville resident Chris Sawyer, would like to donate 6 lights to the city for use on city property. He is an electrical contractor and had these left over, as surplus on a large project. There are 3 "cobra style" lights and 3 "post top" lights; both styles are LED fixtures. The parks committee has already found a use for one of them atop the sledding hill and they are working with our public works department to find homes for the others. There are costs associated with installing the lights, including purchasing lamp posts, but the donation is greatly appreciated and timely, as we've had lighting concerns in several areas. Donations to the city must be formally accepted by the City Council COST AND SOURCE(S) OF FUNDING: No direct cost. Estimated donation value is $2,967. REQUESTED COUNCIL ACTION: Motion to accept the donation of 6 lights from Chris Sawyer, with an estimated value of $2,967.
