Centerville2040 Comprehensive Plan <br /> <br /> <br /> Identify potential trail corridors for long term linkage to neighborhoods, public parks and <br />businesses and construct those trails as funding allows. <br /> Coordinate transportation planning and system improvements with surrounding <br />communities as well as Anoka County and the Minnesota Department of Transportation. <br /> Work with the Metro Transit to maximize transit opportunities for the community. <br /> <br />P ARK AND R ECREATION G OALS AND P OLICIES <br />It is the goal of the City of Centerville to: <br />Provide convenient active and passive recreation opportunities that serve all the residents <br />of Centerville. <br /> Build new and upgrade existing park properties and trails with ecologically sound and <br />sustainable materials, where possible. <br /> Establish a biking/hiking trail system connecting the City parks and residential <br />neighborhoods. <br /> Provide adequate expansion of parks and recreation areas in proposed residential <br />developments. <br /> Provide safe and convenient bicycle and pedestrian access to community recreational <br />facilities. <br /> Utilize and preserve parks and recreation opportunities on the shores of Centerville and <br />Peltier Lakes with appropriate sustainable practices in mind. <br /> Promote or provide recreational facilities and programs to serve the varied recreational <br />needs of all age groups in the City. <br /> <br />It is the policy of the City of Centerville to: <br /> Develop a trail access plan which provides interconnection of major parks, recreation areas, <br />schools, commercial nodes, the Central Business District as well as existing and future <br />community neighborhoods and implement the plan as funding opportunities allow. <br /> Design and maintain parks with proper lighting, shelter and landscaping to ensure public <br />and property safety, with sustainable practices which protect environmental resources for <br />future generations. <br /> Develop land use regulations compatible with adjacent parks, recreation areas and natural <br />features. <br /> Require dedication of net developable parkland or cash in lieu of land in conjunction with <br />the subdivision or re-development of all properties. <br /> Encourage and accept land gifts and forfeitures in areas with potential recreational <br />development opportunities or to provide open green-space. <br /> Coordinate regional trail development potential with Anoka County and adjacent <br />communities. <br /> <br /> Page 27 <br /> <br /> <br />
