CITY OF CENTERVILLE <br />REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />Agenda Item # Department: Requested Council Meeting Date: <br />April 8, 2020 <br />Administration <br />Work Session #1 <br />TITLE OF ISSUE: <br />Open Council Seat - Candidate Interviews <br />BACKGROUND AND SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: <br /> At the last City Council Meeting, Council Member Love assumed the position of Mayor, thereby vacating <br />his seat on the City Council. The Council has chosen to fill his open seat via appointment. The appointed <br />member shall serve through the end of 2020, being then replaced by the successful candidate in a special <br />election, which will be held in conjunction with the general election in early November. <br /> We are pleased to announce that we have a panel of 3 qualified candidates, each having lived in Centerville <br />for more than 35 years. Their applications or letters of interest are attached. Interviews are set for 5:00, 5:20 <br />and 5:40 p.m. We'll have each interview last 15 minutes, with 5 minutes in between to make sure the next <br />candidate can get connected via Zoom.
