Street Light Donation <br />Parking lot lighting will be discussed in conjunction with the City Hall renovation project. <br /> <br />Music in the Park <br />At this point, the Parks and Recreation Committee would like to continue planning for a Music in the <br />Park season, with a few sensible social distancing rules in effect. This event seemed to be one that <br />could reasonably accommodate the “new normal” restrictions and still be worthwhile. We are <br />looking at pushing back the start of the season by two weeks, to mid June. <br /> <br />Staff has requested refunds for our annual licensure through ASCAP and SESAC in the event <br />that Music in the Park is cancelled. <br /> <br />PUBLIC SAFETY <br /> <br />Centennial Lakes Police Department <br />Chief Search <br />Baker-Tilly has received around 30 applications for the position and has identified 18 <br />qualified candidates. A 3-stage selection process was recently presented to the Police <br />Governing Board and will culminate with interviews of 4 to 5 candidates by the board. <br /> <br />Annual Report <br />The department’s annual report was presented to the Police Governing Board on May 11 <br />and will be presented by Chief Coan at the May 27 City Council meeting. In general, <br />most crime statistics did not show major ups or downs. There was a slight decrease in <br />Level 1 Crimes (violent crimes), while there was a slight uptick in narcotics arrests and <br />citations. The report also outlined the many community engagement activities in which <br />the department participates. <br /> <br />COVID-19 <br />Officers are focusing on providing highly visible patrols, making sure to circle through <br />neighborhoods and let folks know they are still safe. Violent crimes are still being taken very <br />seriously, and arrests are still being made. <br /> <br />Chief Coan is filing weekly Situation Reports that are being shared with key staff and elected <br />officials. In general, our officers are healthy and have the necessary Personal Protective <br />Equipment (PPE). <br /> <br />Centennial Fire District <br />Fire District Organizational Study <br />At the 4/16 Fire Steering Committee Meeting, the committee voted to hire Fitch and <br />Associates to complete a comprehensive study of the department’s operating structure. <br />The cost of the study is $25,000 <br /> <br />COVID-19 <br />Chief Lundstrom is filing weekly Situation Reports. In general, our firefighters are healthy <br />and have the necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). We do have one firefighter on <br />quarantine due to a likely exposure, not involving the fire department. <br />
