CITY OF CENTERVILLE <br />REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />Agenda Item # Department: Requested Council Meeting Date: <br />August 26, 2020 <br />Administration/Public Works <br />IX.1 <br />TITLE OF ISSUE: <br />City Hall Renovation Project - Award Bid <br />BACKGROUND AND SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: <br />The city had overwhelming response to the request for bids on the City Hall Renovation Project, with 17 <br />submitted bids. The bid consisted of a base bid, with 7 add-alternates. A rough budget of $300,000 for the <br />project has been discussed. This budget included both construction and engineering/architecture fees. In an <br />effort to remain within that budget, staff is recommending the award of the project include the base bid, plus <br />alternates 1, 2, 4, 6 & 7. The excluded alternates include: #3 - Replacement of the furnace/air conditioner unit <br />for the fire station office area and #5 - Exterior Parking Lot Lights. The fire station HVAC unit is the same age <br />as the unit which has failed, but has had much less stress put on it, given the nature of the area which it heats <br />and cools. The failed unit was tasked with heating/cooling both the Council Chambers and City Hall Offices. <br />Therefore, we believe this unit can last several more years.
