City of Centerville <br /> Park & Recreation Committee <br />May 6, 2020 <br />Motion made by Committee Member Waeghe, seconded by Committee <br />Member Bettinger to recommend to the City Council to postpone the 2020 <br />Main Street Market, in conjunction with the waterski shows, to 2021 due to <br />the Covid-19 Pandemic and the current state guidelines about social <br />distancing. All in favor. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Additional planning for this 2021 event should resume in January, 2021 with Ms. <br />Angela Conley in the same position as lead volunteer. <br /> <br />b. Vendor Sign-up <br /> <br />A few vendors have shown an interest in participating in this event. Ms. Conley <br />posted information on the “Next Door” application and has been in contact with <br />Ms. Dorothy Radamacher of the Quad Chamber of Commerce. <br /> <br />c. Volunteer Sign-up <br /> <br /> No information was presented on volunteer interest or commitment. <br /> <br />d. Budget/Grant <br /> <br />A “SHIP” (Statewide health improvement partnership) neighborhood mini grant <br />application was submitted to Anoka County on March 31, 2020 for funding for the <br />2020 Thursday Night Main Street Market. A grant in the amount of $2,900 was <br />awarded and will be used to purchase six (6) picnic tables and advertising i.e. <br />printed signs, flyers, banners and newspaper ads with the grantor to purchase the <br />picnic tables and advertising on behalf of the City. Due to the recommendation of <br />postponing this event until 2021, Mr. Statz will contact the SHIP coordinator <br />regarding this decision and also the three vendors who had showed an interest to <br />participate. <br /> <br />2. 19-032: Fete des Lacs – Liaison(s) <br /> <br />a. Discussion on Event viability related to COVID-19 <br /> <br />This Fete des Lacs committee met just prior to the P & R meeting and they will be <br />making a joint recommendation to the City of Centerville and the Lions club to <br />cancel this annual event due to public safety concerns of the Covid-19. <br /> <br />b. Logo Contest – Mr. Pat Branch <br /> <br />A total of 99 entries were received from two school age groups – Elementary and <br />Middle School. Mr. Branch and his volunteers named the winners from the <br />Elementary category: First – Brianna Ghiloni, Second – Logan Yang and two <br />honorable mentions – Brooke Twohy and Maret Clark. The winners from the <br />Middle School category are: First – Hayden Johnson, Second – Frances Jung and <br />Page 2 of 6 <br /> <br /> <br />
