CITY OF CENTERVILLE REQUEST FOR ACTION Agenda Item # Department: RequestedMeetingDate: October 21, 2020 EDA VIII.1 TITLE OF ISSUE: Business Coaching Program BACKGROUND AND SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: Over the past year or so, the EDA has developed a number of programs designed to assist businesses with growth and promotion. To that end, the EDA has rolled out the CenterStage Program, Blue Logo Sign Program and the Revolving Loan and Grant Program. In a similar vain, staff has explored the idea of a program to assist businesses by partnering with them on expenses related to business coaching. While "Open to Business" offers some of these same services for free, there are limitations on the time they may be able to dedicate or the expertise they may have. Staff has requested a proposal from a local business coaching firm to give you an idea of what a program might entail. COST AND SOURCE(S) OF FUNDING: TBD REQUESTED ACTION: No formal action requested at this time. Staff is looking for direction on whether or not this is something the EDA wishes to pursue. If so, staff may solicit proposals from several business advisors to offer our businesses a suite of packages to choose from. We would also welcome discussion on a budget for such a program and the level of assistance that might be appropriate.
