CITY OF CENTERVILLE <br />REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />Agenda Item # Department: Requested Council Meeting Date: <br />October 28, 2020 <br />Planning and Zoning <br />IX.5 <br />TITLE OF ISSUE: <br />Ordinance 109 - Revising City Code Re: Farm Animals (Backyard Chickens) (1st Reading) <br />BACKGROUND AND SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: <br />The Planning and Zoning Commission has reviewed potential changes to the "Backyard Chicken" Ordinance. <br />The proposed changes would allow 6 hens, instead of the current 4, allows a fenced-in area without a roof for <br />chickens to graze with supervision and extends the time period before a coop needs to be removed, once it is <br />not in use, to allow for seasonal operation. <br /> <br />The Planning and Zoning Commission voted unanimously to approve the proposed changes after a public <br />hearing was held to take input. <br />COST AND SOURCE(S) OF FUNDING: <br />N/A <br />REQUESTED COUNCIL ACTION: <br />This is the first reading of this ordinance.
