THE CITY OF CENTERVILLE <br />ANOKA COUNTY, MINNESOTA <br /> <br />\[PROPOSED\] ORDINANCE NO. 109 <br /> <br />REGARDING FARM ANIMALS - CHICKENS <br /> <br />The City Council of the City of Centerville hereby ordains: <br /> <br />Section 1. That Section 90.03 shall be amended, as follows: <br />§ 90.03. FARM ANIMALS. <br />*** <br />Section 2. Backyard Chickens. Notwithstanding other provisions of this Chapter, a person <br />may keep up to four (4) six (6) female chickens on a parcel that they own that is less than <br />ten acres in size, provided that the owner has a lot with a minimum of 10,000 square feet, <br />and obtains a backyard chicken permit from the City. No permit shall be issued except in <br />compliance with this Section. <br /> <br />(1) Definitions. <br /> <br />CHICKEN YARD means a fenced-in area connected to but external to <br />the enclosed run and coop. <br />*** <br />(12) A chicken yard shall not exceed five-hundred (500) square feet. It must be <br />completely enclosed by a fence, the coop, or the run and designed in a manner to <br />contain chickens. The surrounding enclosure shall have a minimum height of <br />twenty-four (24) inches. Fencing used as part of the enclosure shall not exceed <br />the maximum fence height as set forth by City ordinance in Chapter 156. <br /> <br />(13) Chickens may only be present in a chicken yard when under the direct <br />supervision of a responsible person. <br /> <br />Section 3. Effective Date.
