Private development will <br />share the responsibility to provide inviting, <br />innovative and useable green space as <br />integral parts of individual parcel site design. <br />Guideline Recommendations <br />The Centerville Downtown Area will have new <br />open space that did not previously exist in the <br />City. Toward that end, Open Space guidelines <br />encourage the following: <br />• Work with the City to create an integrated, <br />comprehensive open space system that links <br />with existing city and regional trails and open <br />space. Reroute the proposed regional trail <br />from CSAH 14 to Heritage Street, thus <br />providing a safer and more appealing <br />connection around downtown. Regional trail <br />connection will be maintained along CSAH 14 <br />until parcels to the south are assembled for <br />development and will accommodate the <br />revised trail alignment shown on the master <br />plan; <br />• Encourage private development (block by <br />block) to share in the responsibility to <br />provide inviting, innovative and useable <br />green space as integral parts of each <br />development project; <br />• Continue to work with St. Genevieve's <br />church on the future of their land on <br />Centerville Lake and insure that public access <br />to the lake can be accommodated at some <br />point in the future; <br />• Integrate storm water management <br />components (meeting water quality and <br />quantity requirements) within both <br />public/private parks and open space <br />improvements. Together, the system of <br />public and semi-public green space will <br />result in a welcoming public realm <br />throughout the revitalized downtown. <br />Improved Access to Centerville Lake <br />B. III. Transportation Systems <br />The system of streets and public rights -of - <br />way are the primary way people will <br />experience downtown.
