CITY OF CENTERVILLE REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION Agenda Item # Department: Requested Council Meeting Date: February 24, 2021 Parks & Rec VII.5 TITLE OF ISSUE: McBride Park - Renewal of Playground Equipment BACKGROUND AND SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: Staff inspected the play structure at McBride Park and have the following recommendations. Overall the structure is solid but is in need of a renewal and replacement of deteriorated play stations. The following are items for consideration: 1. Touch-up paint areas on the structure where it has chipped. 2. Remove the climber portion and re-install to level this area which has heaved due to frost. 3. Replace the following components which have cracks or are faded. The smaller slide, the upper portion of the large slide, the Tic-tac-toe play station, the steering wheel at this play station. The Parks & Rec Committee reviewed this information at their February meeting and unanimously recommended approval of the work at a cost not to exceed $7,000 (to include additional misc. hardware/paint). COST AND SOURCE(S) OF FUNDING: $7,000 - Capital Equipment Replacement Fund REQUESTED COUNCIL ACTION: Motion to recommend approval for renewal work to McBride playground structure as detailed in this report.
