Adopt a Flower Garden Program Program Guidelines • Each participant will be assigned a garden in one of the city's parks or other public spaces. When you sign up for the program, we will ask you to chose a preferred garden and will do our best to accommodate your request. • Each garden will be equipped with a rain barrel for use by the volunteer. City staff will periodically fill the rain barrels with recycled water from the city's stormwater reuse system. • Each garden will receive a budget of $100 annually. This budget may be used at the participant's discretion for items such as seeds, plants/flowers (annuals/perennials), grasses, enhanced plant bedding/soil, mulch, plant food and the like. Participants will need to turn in receipts for their supplies to be reimbursed. The city cannot reimburse for costs that are not accompanied by a receipt. • Participants will be tasked with the year-round maintenance of their garden and may plant the garden with whatever they wish. We invite you to show off your skills with your favorite plants. When choosing plants, just make sure they don't block the view of the sign or migrate outside the garden and cause mowing or other maintenance issues. Please do not plant vegetables or other fruit bearing plants. • Participants may plant the garden with perennials culled from their own gardens or plants, grasses and flowers purchased with their allocated budget. • Participants will be responsible for supplying their own gardening equipment such as spades, gloves and other items.
