Anoka County Regional Economic Development <br />The Anoka County Board of Commissioners, at its March 23 <br />meeting, approved the hiring of Samantha Markman as the <br />velopment director. <br /> <br />Markman will be working with the county, local cities, chambers <br />of commerce, regional planning and economic development <br />organizations, and commercial real estate brokers to assess the <br />economic development needs of the region, create plans to <br />encourage growth in the area, and she will develop strategies for <br />engaging key stakeholders. <br /> <br />Welcome aboard, Samantha! <br /> <br />COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT <br />Centerville Elementary School Expansion <br />The project to add classroom space to Centerville Elementary is slated to begin shortly after school <br />lets out this Spring. The project will continue through the summer and into the fall as class begins <br />again. The project also includes a new playground in the rear of the school. <br /> <br />Old Mill Estates <br />Punch list work related to infrastructure continues. Grading, paving and restoration work will finish up in the <br />Spring. <br /> <br />Bay View Villas (Waterworks Site) <br />The contractor has made significant progress on Punch List items related to utilities. Other <br />items remain, including landscaping, ped ramps, mailboxes and shoreline plantings. The city <br />retains a letter of credit to cover these items. <br /> <br />Peltier Estates <br />The Preliminary Plat and Preliminary Planned Unit Development for Peltier Estates were <br />th <br />approved by the City Council at their March 24 meeting. Final documents are being <br />prepared and will be considered in May. Construction of the development could begin as <br />early as late May or early June. <br /> <br />Atlas Villas Memory Care Project (1825 Main Street) <br />Building construction work continues as the new facility takes shape on Main Street. <br /> <br />Driveway and Parking Ordinance Review <br />The Planning and Zoning Commission continues to work diligently on issues related to what <br />and where certain vehicles can be parked on residential properties. Both the existing <br />ordinance and the one being contemplated by P&Z do not allow parking of any vehicles in <br /> <br />
