The Council tabled
action on the plat until further details could be worked out regarding driveway access and
th
the like. The plat was re-presented and given Preliminary Plat Approval at the July 11
City Council meeting.
Erick Marshall Property
A Preliminary Plat application for detached townhomes at the northwest end of LaValle
Drive has been submitted. Staff sent Mr. Marshall a notice stating that his application
was incomplete (plans had not been submitted along with the application). We do,
however, anticipate a complete submittal soon.
Fruth/Fischer Property
A Public Hearing will be held by the Planning and Zoning Commission at their meeting
st
on July 31 for the Preliminary Plat known as Old Mill Estates. The plat features 34
single family lots under a proposed R2A zoning.
Economic Development Authority
The first EDA meeting is set for August 27 and the board members have been notified.
Both the director of the “Open To Business” campaign, Kathleen Duschane, and Anoka
County’s new Economic Development Initiative coordinator Jacquel Hajder are eager to
meet with our committee and share information about what they are doing for economic
growth in the region.
General Development Activity
City staff recently fielded calls from our realtor, Mike Brass, regarding a higher end
multifamily developer looking to possibly put 20 units on our downtown vacant lot.
Another interested party contacted us directly to explore options for workforce housing.
They were also looking, primarily, at the downtown site and are contemplating higher
density options (+/-60 units). Their company would both develop and manage the
property afterward.
