PUBLIC WORKS/STREETS <br />Main Street Beautification <br />As we approach Fete des Lacs, the Public Works Department makes an <br />effort to spruce up Main Street. Th <br />the route along with other general maintenance items. <br /> <br />STORMWATER/WETLAND <br />LaMotte Park Stormwater Reuse System Expansion <br />The irrigation system needed to be shut down after several weeks of drought drew the pond <br />down to just above the inlet. The system will be turned on again if the pond gains a little <br />depth after some rain. <br /> <br />SEWER AND WATER <br />Commercial Water Connection Fee Assistance <br /> businesses through the pandemic, a new program <br />was introduced, cutting connection fees for city water in half, through the end of 2021 for <br />commercial properties. If you own a commercial property in Centerville that is not currently <br />hooked to city water, and are interested in learning more, please call Administrator Statz at <br />651-792-7931. <br /> <br />Wellhead Protection Plan <br />We are awaiting an official letter from the MN Department of Health on the approval of our <br />plan. Once this is received, we will notify adjoining jurisdictions and begin <br />implementation. <br /> <br />2020 Downtown Street and Utility Improvements <br />Paving and most punch list work is complete. Final payments will be processed soon. <br /> <br />PUBLIC SAFETY <br />Centennial Lakes Police Department <br />Open Position <br />applications. We anticipate filling this job <br />in the next week or so. <br /> <br />Centennial Fire District <br />Fire District Organizational Study <br />After nearly a year of study, the Fire Steering Committee voted on Thursday, May 20, to <br />enter into a contract with the Spring Lake Park/Blaine/Mounds View (SBM) fire department <br />to act as the management and day-time duty crew for our department. The Centennial Fire <br />District will remain intact, and continue to include paid-on-call fire fighters from our two <br />respective cities. However, rather than having our own chief and other paid staff, SBM will <br />assume those duties. The plan will save around $40,000 annually, and strengthens the service <br />capabilities in our area. <br /> <br />The district is looking for paid-on-call firefighters.
