CITY OF CENTERVILLE REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION Agenda Item # Department: Requested Council Meeting Date: September 8, 2021 Planning and Zoning IX.1 TITLE OF ISSUE: Old Mill Estates - Trail Construction BACKGROUND AND SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: As part of the approved development plan for Old Mill Estates, a trail was to be constructed between the cul-de-sac at the east end of Old Mill Court and Acorn Creek Park. During the planning of the development initial comments from the city requested that Old Mill Court be extended to the south, connecting to Laramee Lane. After much discussion at the Planning Commission and City Council, a cul-de-sac was allowed, but a trail was required for safe and direct access to Acorn Creek Park for residents of the cul-de-sac. Additionally, the trail segment completes a pedestrian loop in which there are no street crossings necessary. This was accomplished by putting the sidewalk on the south side of Old Mill Ct. and the north side of Larmee Lane. The new homeowner at 1844 Old Mill Ct. is asking to have the trail segment eliminated due to the proximity of the trail to their home. COST AND SOURCE(S) OF FUNDING: No cost to the city. REQUESTED COUNCIL ACTION: Motion to reaffirm the Old Mill Estates development plan and direct staff to continue pursuing construction of the trail as planned.
