A roll-call vote was taken. Council Members King,
Koski, Lakso & Mosher voted in favor. Mayor Love abstained. Motion carried.
Council Member King asked for an explanation of the Storm Water Coalition membership.
Administrator Statz explained that it is a coalition of cities that are required by the Pollution
Control Agency (PCA) to have MS4 permits. He stated that this permit allows for owning and
operating of a stormwater system. This organization lobbies the legislature and the PCA to keep
the regulations reasonable as sort of a Òwatch dogÓ organization. He noted that he believed that
the League of Minnesota Cities was simply doing the administrative work for the coalition and are
operating separately from the League.
Council Member King asked how he could get more information on the Coalition.
Administrator Statz stated that he is not sure if they have their own website but noted that he is
very familiar with them because his past clients also worked with them.
Council Member King reiterated that he would like to know more about them such as how long
they have been around and try to figure out if the City is actually getting something out of
partnering with them.
Administrator Statz suggested that he can get Council Member King in touch with them and try to
get him on a mailing list/e-mail blast.
