City of Centerville <br />EDA Minutes <br /> May 19, 2021 <br /> <br />The contractor for Bay View Villas has made progress on items relating to utilities and curb and <br />gutter work has started on the Mini Storage site this week. <br /> <br />Executive Director Statz provided an update on the Block 7 Property proposals. He stated the City <br />Council took the Planning and Zoning Commission recommendation to move forward with Centra <br />Homes concept plan. He reviewed and provided an update on the site development proposals for <br />the Belleville Landing Apartments, NorBella Senior Living, and Kwik Trip. <br /> <br />There was discussion regarding becoming a City of 5,000. Executive Direction Statz explained <br />why it is important for the City to meet a population of 5,000 and how the apartment complex <br />might help reach that goal. The pros and cons of having a high-density apartment complex as <br />proposed was discussed as was whether not the Commissioners felt becoming a City of 5,000 was <br />important at this time. <br /> <br />2. Partner Agency Reports <br /> <br />a. Anoka County Regional Economic Development (ACRED) <br /> <br />th <br />Executive Director Statz stated he has been preparing for the June 4 meeting and spoke about the <br />events that ACRED has planned, specifically that they will attend the Commercial Real Estate <br />thndth <br />Forecast Summit on June 8 and they will be hosting a tent at the 3M Open July 22 – 25. <br /> <br /> b. Quad Area Chamber of Commerce <br /> <br />Executive Director Statz stated he attended the recent meeting in the park that the Quad Area <br />Chamber of Commerce held and noted it was well attended and nice. He stated they discussed core <br />values of the City and who and how they hope their programs can help. <br /> <br />c. Hugo Area Business Association <br /> <br />Executive Director Statz spoke briefly about this organization. <br /> <br />3. Year to Date Financials <br /> <br />None. <br /> <br />4. Ongoing Programs: <br /> <br /> a. Blue Logo Sign <br /> <br />Executive Director Statz the signs are up, and it was money well spent. He stated they are important <br />and the City will benefit from them. <br /> <br />President Hanzal stated he saw one for the first time the other day and they look great and agrees <br />that they will help let people know the City is there and they will be an asset. <br /> Page 3 of 5 <br /> <br /> <br />
