City of Centerville <br />EDA Minutes <br /> May 19, 2021 <br />1. Jett’s Machine Shop – Grant Application <br />(This item was handled out of order. It was discussed directly after the Administrator’s Report.) <br /> <br />Executive Administrator introduced and provided some background on this item. <br /> <br />Commissioner Weatherhead asked the applicant if the owner of the building he is leasing, or <br />renting is ok with the signage he is requesting this grant for. <br /> <br />James “Jimmy” Jensen, Jett’s Machine Shop – addressed the Commission and responded to stated <br />Lloyd owns the building and he referred him to both neighboring businesses for information on <br />who did their signage. He stated they tried to upsell him, so upon looking into it further his wife <br />came across this City grant. <br /> <br />Commissioner Remillard asked what type of business he is in. Mr. Jensen stated his background <br />is playing, coaching, and training for hockey, he stated he helps kids of all ages move from one <br />level to the next or work on their skills. He noted he is lucky to be able to turn his passion into a <br />business. <br /> <br />The Commission stated it sounds like a great business and they hope the City Council will move <br />along his request quickly. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Weatherhead, seconded by Commissioner King, to recommend <br />approval of the grant application from Jet’s Machine Shop as submitted. A roll call vote was <br />taken. All in favor. Motion carried. <br /> <br />2. 2022 Budget Preview <br /> <br />Executive Director Statz presented a spreadsheet that showed the projected budget for 2022. There <br />was discussion regarding some of the items and deciding if they should minimize or maximize <br />some of the budget items. <br /> <br />IX. ADJOURNMENT <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner King, seconded by Commissioner Mosher, to adjourn the May 19, <br />2021 Economic Development Authority meeting at 9:08 p.m. A roll call vote was taken.
