CITY OF CENTERVILLE <br />PARKS AND RECREATION COMMITTEE <br />MEETING MINUTES <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the City of CentervilleÓs Parks & Recreation Committee held a <br />scheduled meeting on November 3, 2021 in the Council Chambers at the Centerville City Hall. <br /> <br />Present: Committee Member Emem Akpan <br /> Committee Member Heidi Errickson-Grahek <br /> Committee Member Jessica Kubat <br /> Committee Member Brian Peterson <br /> Committee Member Suzanne Seeley <br /> <br />Also Present: Mr. Mark Statz, City Administrator <br /> Ms. Michelle Lakso, City Council Liaison <br /> <br />Absent: Committee Member Kathy Freiermuth <br /> <br />I. CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br /> Committee Chair Errickson-Grahek, called the November 3, 2021 Meeting of the Parks & Recreation <br />Committee to order at 6.30 p.m., in the Council Chambers at the Centerville City Hall. <br /> <br />II. APPROVAL OF AGENDA <br /> <br />Motion made by Committee Member Kubat, seconded by Committee Member Akpan to approve <br />agenda. All in favor. Motion carried. <br /> <br /> <br />III. APPEARANCES Î Mr. Peter Schmitt, Centennial Youth Hockey (Centennial Mite Ice <br />Scheduler) <br /> <br /> Mr. Schmitt appeared before the committee to request the use of the hockey rink on Mondays through <br />Thursdays from 6 Î 7 pm at Laurie LaMotte Park, through the hockey season at the end of February, for <br />the Centennial Youth Hockey - Mites. This includes dry-ice time prior to the rink being flooded. He is <br />waiting for the $100 damage deposit to be received by the City, but is hoping to begin using the area as <br />soon as possible. He would also like to have access to the warming house during these practice sessions. <br />He also presented to the committee that there would be parents available and willing to help flood the <br />rink. Mr. Statz explained that the city staff generally completes this action when weather deems <br />appropriate. He stated that there is a liability concern for non-employees operating equipment. <br /> <br /> Motion made by Committee Member Bettinger, seconded by Committee Member Errickson- <br />Grahek, to approve the use of the hockey rink area for dry-ice and ice time practices on Mondays <br />through Thursdays from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Laurie LaMotte Park for the Centennial Youth <br />Hockey.
