Administrator/EngineerÓs Report <br />February 9, 2022 <br /> <br /> <br />PARKS AND RECREATION <br />Park Board Vacancy <br />The Parks and Recreation Committee is expected to have a vacancy after the City Council <br />accepts the resignation of long-time member Chris Bettinger. Chris served on the Parks and <br />Recreation Board for nearly a decade and has been a part of many projects and the growth of <br />new programs throughout his time on the board. <br /> <br />To apply for the vacant position, please submit an application by completing an online form: <br />click here or stop in to city hall to obtain an application. <br /> <br />Recommendation to Council to Thin Trees from Eagle Park <br />The Committee recommended to Council approval of lowest bidder, LangerÓs Tree Service - <br />$6,950; for thinning of trees, (removal of 83 trees), in an effort to extend the life/growth cycle <br />of remaining trees and to declutter the wooded areas. Council discussed the item at their <br />January 12, 2022 meeting and approved the P & R recommendation. Abutting property owners <br />and the HOA have been notified of the removal. <br /> <br />Annual Skate/Sled Nights <br />The Parks & Recreation Committee is gearing up for their <br />th <br />second Skate/Sled Night on Saturday, February 12 from <br />6-9 pm at Laurie LaMotte Memorial Park. The first <br />th <br />Skate/Sled Night was held on Friday, January 14 and it was <br />a huge hit with Centerville residents. Approximately 100 <br />people participated in this fun family event. <br /> <br />Wargo Nature Center will provide fat tire bikes, snowshoes <br />and kicksleds for participants to use for free. The Parks and <br />Recreation Committee will be provide FREE popcorn, hot cocoa and sÓmores for roasting over <br />the bonfire. <br /> <br />nd <br />At their meeting on February 2, the Parks & Recreation Committee provided input on what <br />theyÓd like to see on the parks pages of the cityÓs website. <br /> <br />Skate Park <br />The Parks and Recreation Committee continues to look for the publicÓs input on the existing <br />Wheels Skate Park at Laurie LaMotte Memorial Park. The facility is nearing the end of its <br />useful life and there are important decisions regarding its future that need to be made and taken <br />into consideration (i.e. complete some major maintenance on the existing equipment, buy new <br />modular ramps, rails and the like) or make a major investment in a poured concrete facility? <br />Send us your thoughts at info@centervillemn.com <br /> <br />ADMINISTRATION <br /> <br />Meeting and City Hall Schedule <br /> <br />
