City of Centerville <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />October 27, 2021 <br />VIL CONSENT AGENDA <br />1. City of Centerville Claims through October 27, 2021 (Check #34640-34673), <br />(1766-1781E) & Voided Check #34638 <br />2. Centennial Lake Police Department Claims through October 21, 2021 (Check <br />#14042-14052), Payroll Check #14053-14054 & (2021055-2021056E) <br />3. Endorsement of Metro Cities' <br />Administrator as a Voting Representative This item was removed from the <br />consent agenda. <br />5. This item was removed <br />from the consent agenda. <br />Mayor Love provided an opportunity for the Council to add or remove any item(s) to/from the <br />consent agenda. <br />Mayor Love inquired whether endorsing legislative policies is a practice the City Council partakes <br />in. Administrator Statz stated it has been done but sometimes the timing of these policies do not <br />coincide with City Council meetings. Mayor Love also wondered if Administrator Statz will be <br />the sole voting member. <br />Council Member Koski questioned if Administrator Statz could explain the function and purpose <br />of the Metro Cities group. Administrator Statz explained Metro Cities is an arm of the League of <br />MN Cities, focusing on the metro area to provide lobbying services at the legislative level. Metro <br />Cities tracks legislation through the process. Legislators tend to listen to this group because of its <br />large size. <br />Mayor Love added this is a great opportunity for city officials to become involved and help set <br />policies. <br />Mayor Love requested items 44-5 pulled from the Consent Agenda for further discussion. <br />Motion by Council Member Koski, seconded by Council Member King, to Approve Consent <br />Agenda Items #1-3. All in favor. Motion carried. <br />4. Endorsement of Metro Cities' 2022 Legislative Policies & Appointing City <br />Administrator as a Voting Representative <br />Council Member King wondered how often this group meets and the number of people on the <br />Committee. Administrator Statz stated they meet twice a year for bi-annual meetings and policy <br />adoptions. They also allow members to make motions when policies are not agreed upon by all <br />participants. Administrator Statz also commented anyone could choose to sit on this Committee. <br />Mayor Love inquired more details of Metro Cities' purpose. Administrator Statz explained he <br />would have the opportunity to help set policies to help grow the city of Centerville. These policies <br />then go out to all of the cities in the group for approval. <br />Page 4 of 7 <br />
