CITY OF CENTERVILLEREQUEST <br />FOR ACTION <br />Agenda Item # Department: RequestedMeetingDate: <br />March 3, 2022 <br />Parks & Recreation <br />VI.3 <br />TITLE OF ISSUE: <br />Suggested Ballfield Improvements - Centerville Lions <br />BACKGROUND AND SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: <br />The City received several requests from the Centerville Lions regarding the ballfields at Laurie LaMotte Memorial Park and the listing <br />is as follows: <br />Level transition between infield & outfield - Quote from Bryan Rock Products - $30.50/ton + Delivery of$3.50/ton - 150 tons needed <br />= $5,100 <br />Fill in exposed rocks in grass from irrigation lines - P.W. Comment is that it will eliminate drainage and fields will be wet again <br />Anchor Bases & Run-Through Bases for both 1st Bases - P.W. Comment is that bases are anchored very lightly to ensure no injuries <br />if sliding into bases and run-through bases were purchased by the Lions several years ago and they provide. <br />Backstop - P.W. Comment is that the post has heaved with weather/soils and hiring of a contractor could be completed unless P.W. <br />mends the fencing. <br />COST AND SOURCE(S) OF FUNDING: <br />Approx. $5,100 for ag lime - Park Maintenance <br />REQUESTED ACTION: <br />Provide direction to staff for maintaining the ballfields by leveling the transition between the infield and <br />outfield and either mend the fencing to truly work in the capacity of a backstop or hire a contractor to replace <br />the post that is heaving - with discretion of the P.W. Director to determine appropriate action.
