Administrator/EngineerÓs Report <br />February 23, 2022 <br /> <br /> <br />PARKS AND RECREATION <br />Park Board Vacancy <br />The Parks and Recreation Committee now has a vacancy after the City Council accepted the <br />resignation of long-time member Chris Bettinger. Chris served on the Parks and Recreation <br />Board for nearly a decade and has been a part of many projects and the growth of new programs <br />throughout his time on the board. <br /> <br />To apply for the vacant position, please submit an application by completing an online form: <br />click here or stop in to city hall to obtain an application. <br /> <br />Volunteers Needed Î Fete des Lacs <br />The Fete des Lacs Committee is looking for volunteers to take on the roles of Parade <br />Coordinator and 5k/8k Fun Run Coordinator (two separate positions). Call City Hall if <br />interested 651-429-3232. <br /> <br />Annual Skate/Sled Nights <br />The Parks & Rec. Committee held <br />their second Skate/Sled Night on <br />Saturday, February 12, 2022. <br />Approximately 25 warm-blooded <br />Minnesotans participated in the free <br />event. Free popcorn, hot cocoa and <br />sÓmores were provided along with a <br />The Parks & Recreation <br />bonfire for roasting and warmth. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />The Committee would like to thank Wargo Nature Center for providing fat tire bikes, <br />snowshoes and kicksleds for use. <br /> <br />Recommendation to Council to Thin Trees from Eagle Park <br />The Committee recommended to Council approval of lowest bidder, LangerÓs Tree Service - <br />$6,950; for thinning of trees, (removal of 83 trees), in an effort to extend the life/growth cycle <br />of remaining trees and to declutter the wooded areas. Council discussed the item at their <br />January 12, 2022 meeting and approved the P & R recommendation. Abutting property owners <br />and the HOA have been notified of the removal. <br /> <br />Skate Park <br />The Parks and Recreation Committee continues to look for the publicÓs input on the existing <br />Wheels Skate Park at Laurie LaMotte Memorial Park. The facility is nearing the end of its <br />useful life and there are important decisions regarding its future that need to be made and taken <br />into consideration (i.e. complete some major maintenance on the existing equipment, buy new <br />modular ramps, rails and the like) or make a major investment in a poured concrete facility? <br />Send us your thoughts at info@centervillemn.com <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
