CITY OF CENTERVILLE
CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION & MEETING MINUTES
January 26, 2022
5:00/6:30 p.m.

Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the City of Centerville held their regularly scheduled City
Council Meeting on January 12, 2022. The meeting was also live streamed by North Metro TV.

I. CALL TO ORDER

1. Mayor Love opened the meeting at 5:02 p.m.

II. ITEMS OF DISCUSSION

1. Retreat/Goal Setting Rescheduling
Due to COVID-related issues, the city council retreat was rescheduled on March 5, 2022.
2. Snowplow Policy
Administrator Statz noted that he watched the Council meeting, and heard the discussion about
snow plowing operations as it pertains to the 1.5 inches of snowfall and the inconsistencies
throughout the policy. Discussion ensued about what triggers snow plowing operations.
Administrator Statz noted that snow plowing operations are initiated at the sole discretion of the
Public Works Director, who determines when and where to plow. The determination is based on
multi-forecasts. There was also discussion about normal snow plowing operations being reflected
in the snow plowing operations policy. A particular point of interest is ensuring the expectations
in public and private plowing operations are the same, so the cityÓs policy and city code are
implemented equitably. Administrator Statz provided information about the equipment used to
plow city streets and trails, noting that bare pavement standards are not going to happen with
current equipment. The policy will be discussed further at the next meeting.

3. City Hall Parking Lot Improvement

Administrator Statz reviewed a sketch of the city hall building, parking lot, and sidewalk
improvements, along with a pad for trash and enclosure. He noted sidewalk improvements, a
walkway around the flagpole with a handrail along the walkway, security, and cameras. The
improvements could be part of the City Hall/Fire Station Phase III Renovations, which includes
parking lot and landscaping enhancements as well as ADA features. There was also discussion
about installing a Veterans Memorial on-site. Funding options were explored, and more
information will be provided the next meeting.

III. ADJOURNMENT

The work session meeting adjourned at 6:28 p.m.
