City of Centerville <br />Council Work Session & City Council Meeting Minutes <br />December 8, 2021 <br /> <br />Mayor Love thanked Ms. Vento for coming this evening, he stated that we are all attempting to <br />take care of our residents and if funding for any projects in Centerville available, please contact <br />Administrator Statz. <br /> <br />Mayor Love stated that the Council appreciated her time this evening and wished her Happy <br />Holidays. <br /> <br />Mayor Love reported that Centerville is the first City in the State who is going to appoint a Jr. <br />Council Member. Mayor Love stated that the City is very proud of this program and in engaging <br />our youth. Ms. Vento stated that she would share this information with her Communication Staff <br />and thanked Council and Mr. Peterson for his desire to serve. She stated that the future of our <br />communities is the youth, the sooner the engagement is great and stated that Mr. Peterson would <br />learn a lot. <br /> <br />Ms. Vento stated that she also serves as the Council Chair’s designee on the Environmental Quality <br />Board Committee and the Governor’s Age Friendly Board and that she would be open to having <br />conversations regarding other items. She stated that Met Council also has a Work Group for transit <br />safety and we take safety/security very seriously. <br /> <br />Council Member Koski state that the Jr. Council Member program was the concept of the Mayor. <br />Ms. Vento stated that it was a great idea. <br /> <br />V. PUBLIC HEARINGS <br /> <br />Administrator Statz explained that being that there are two (2) public hearings scheduled each one <br />would require separate hearings. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Mosher, seconded by Council Member King to Open the Public <br />Hearing at 6:43 p.m. for the first reading of Proposed Ord. #122, Second Series – 2022 Fee <br />Schedule. All in favor. Motion carried. <br /> <br />1. Ord. #122, Second Series – 2022 Fee Schedule <br /> <br />Administrator Statz stated that on an annual basis the Council adopts a Fee Schedule for its <br />upcoming year’s fees. He stated that no modifications from 2021 to 2022 have been made. He <br />reported that the Finance Director, late in the afternoon today, called his attention to the fact that <br />the Capital Improvement Plan calls for an annual increase in the Storm Water fee by 5% in an <br />attempt to build the fund. He stated that there was a handout noting that. He stated that last year <br />the increase was offset by decreasing the water fees. He also stated that he is not recommending <br />that at this time as the fund is healthy but up to Council to make that decision. He stated that the <br />Clerk updated that formatting per the request of Council Member Lakso. <br /> <br />Council Member Lakso thanked for the format change and discussed the offsetting fees but did <br />not have any comments regarding it and felt that she would take the recommendation of staff. <br />Council Member Koski stated that it is difficult when discussing increases and requested an <br />explanation for the public of the Capital Improvement Plan for the storm sewer.
