City of Centerville <br />EDA Meeting Minutes <br /> February 16, 2022 <br />1. Bills <br /> <br /> a. Check List <br /> <br />Executive Director Statz provided an overview of the checks. A motion to approve the bills and <br />checks was made by Commissioner Weatherhead and seconded by Commissioner Remillard. <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br />2. Communications <br /> <br />A recommendation for the website redesign is being presented to the city council at their meeting <br />rd <br />on February 23. <br /> <br />VI. REPORTS <br /> <br /> 1. Administrator’s Report <br /> <br />Executive Director Statz reviewed the Administrator’s Report as presented in the packet. <br /> <br />2. Partner Agency Reports <br /> <br />a. Anoka County Regional Economic Development (ACRED) <br />Samantha Markman, ACRED Executive Director provided an overview of 2021 activities, project <br />inquiries, goals, committees, initiatives, and events. Highlights include the 2021 Up River Real <br />Estate Event and 2021 PGA Tour: 3M Open. Almost half of the project inquiries were from the <br />industrial sector, followed by commercial, assistance, and housing. Organization goals include: <br />Marketing, Readiness, and Regionalism & Alignment. Initiatives include: Regional Broadband <br />Efforts, Marketing at 2022 Events, Regional Business Retention & Expansion Initiative and <br />Community Support. A number of events are in the process of being planned for this year, <br />including: ACRED Business & Banking Summit and ACRED Up River Real Estate Event. The <br />dates have not been confirmed. A number of sponsored events are also being planned – more <br />information can be found on the ACRED website. <br /> <br /> b. Quad Area Chamber of Commerce <br />Executive Director Statz reviewed the updates noted on the administrator report. <br /> <br />c. Hugo Area Business Association <br /> <br />Executive Director Statz and President Hanzal attended the City of Hugo’s Business Appreciation <br />event. Awards were presented to qualifying businesses, and there was a lot of participation from <br />local businesses. The update/information portion of the meeting highlighted current projects, such <br />as development along their lakefront and their new public works facility.
