City of Centerville <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />March 9, 2022 <br /> <br />allowed for their trees to die and they remained standing. He also stated that he is aware that <br />discussions were held in 2009-2010 regarding the infestations and Council desired not to take <br />action. Mr. Frevel stated that he would be attending the Parks & Recreation Committee to discuss <br />his concerns, possibilities for programs/grants, etc. <br /> <br />IV. APPOINTMENTS/PRESENTATIONS <br /> <br />1. Ms. Mary Wells, Assessor – 2022 Assessment Update <br /> <br />Ms. Wells addressed Council and reviewed her presentation that was including in Council’s <br />packet. She stated that Anoka County would be forwarding statements in mid-March to <br />homeowners. She briefly discussed that the market trend throughout Anoka County has been that <br />home values have increased from 17-26% due to the rather than normal seller’s market. <br /> <br />Discussion ensued regarding if taxing unit’s budgets remained stable, with the increased home <br />values, residents would not experience a tax increase; classification median increases (Commercial <br />– 21%, Industrial – 27% and apartments (4 units or over) – 28%; and whether if there was a <br />downturn in the economy would there also be a downturn in values in the future. <br /> <br />Ms. Wells also stated that she would be the first point of contact if residents had questions <br />regarding their valuations, that he would be happy to complete a visual inspection of their home <br />and adjust values if amounts were not appropriate or they could bring their issue before the Board <br />of Appeal in April. She also stated that there is an additional avenue for resident to appear before <br />the Council Board of Appeal as well. <br /> <br />Administrator Statz stated that a sample tax valuation was included in the Spring newsletter but <br />lacked the word “Sample” on it. He stated that it did not have an address, property owner, parcel <br />information, etc. and it did cause a bit of confusion from some residents who contacted the City <br />and the Assessor. <br /> <br />Mayor Love asked enough Council Members were trained to participate as the City’s Board and <br />Administrator Statz concurred. <br /> <br />V. PUBLIC HEARINGS <br /> <br />1. None. <br /> <br />VI. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES <br /> <br />1. November 10, 2021 City Council Meeting Minutes <br /> <br />Mayor Love provided an opportunity for others to add or delete any items. Council <br />Member Lakso noted that on Page 9 of the minutes it referenced “kind” rather than “King”. <br /> <br /> Motion by Council Member Lakso, seconded by Council Member King to Approve <br />the November 10, 2021 City Council Meeting Minutes as Amended.
