The district has been busy with fire calls, including several large fires in our
neighboring cities. Our crews have been the first on scene to several of these incidents and are
making a big impact.
The Steering Committee also approved a raise to the retirement benefit through the Fire Relief
Association, to $7,500 per year of service for fully vested firefighters. This keeps our offerings
competitive with surrounding departments and aids in firefighter recruitment and retention.
Having a largely paid-on-call fire department is an incredible asset to our community and keeps
the cost of fire protection reasonable. If you or someone you know might want to explore the
possibility of being a firefighter, please call city hall at 651-429-3232 for more information.
Centennial Lakes Police Department
The Centennial Lakes Police Governing Board will meet on May 9 at the Police Station in
Circle Pines. The public is welcome to attend.
FINANCE
American Rescue Plan (ARP)
The City Council reviewed information from the Finance Director regarding the eligibility of
certain expenses and the opportunity to recover lost revenue. The US Treasury has now
finalized their guidance on lost revenue, which provides a flat amount for recovery by each
city, which is well above Centerville’s allotment. If funds are allocated for lost revenue, they
must simply be spent on general government expenses. Council has not made formal
commitments yet.
