PARKS AND RECREATION Committee Seat Available A vacant seat remains on the City’s Parks and Recreation Committee. Please call City Hall or email info@centervillemn.com if interested. Summer in Centerville This summer, look for signs around town with QR codes directing you to all the latest info on our parks programming. Emerald Ash Borer The Parks and Rec Committee has been looking into ways in which the city’s parks will be affected by the Emerald Ash Borer and is preparing to stay on top of issues as they arise. Strategic Plan The Parks and Rec Committee continues work on its strategic plan. If you’d like to give input, we are always happy to receive your thoughts. Just give us a call or email us at info@centervillemn.com No Mow May Some cities around the metro are trying out a new strategy to help our pollinator friends, called “No Mow May”. For now, Centerville is just going to give this a go in some select areas of our parks. So, if you see an area with a little bit longer grass along your favorite trail, it’s not our crews slacking off, it’s a nod to the creatures that keep our flowers blooming and our vegetable gardens growing. If our pilot project works out this year, we’ll look at extending the program to residential properties in 2023. Garage Sale Days This year’s Garage Sale Days is scheduled for June 10 & 11. If you’ve never participated before, this is just a chance for you to host a garage sale along with all your neighbors. The idea is to get lots of shoppers in town, all on one weekend. Registrations will be accepted until the DEADLINE DATE: May 31, 2022. You must be a Centerville resident to register. Volunteers Needed – Fete des Lacs The Committee is looking for volunteers to be actively involved in events taking place during the week of Fete des Lacs.
