City of Centerville <br />EDA Meeting Minutes <br /> April 20, 2022 <br /> a. Check List <br />Executive Director Statz reviewed the two checks in the packet as presented. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Weatherhead and seconded by Commissioner King to approve the <br />checks as presented. All in favor. Motion carried. <br />2. Communications <br />a. Resolution formally appointing Commissioner Remillard to the EDA. <br />Executive Director Statz requested that the EDA endorse CouncilÓs appointment of Commissioner <br />Remillard. This motion cleans up an earlier documentation error. <br />Motion by Commissioner Weatherhead and seconded by Commissioner King to endorse <br />CouncilÓs appointment of Commissioner Remillard to the EDA. All in favor. Motion carried. <br />b. Draft 2022-23 Council Strategic Plan <br />Executive Director Statz presented the councilÓs draft strategic plan as presented, and welcomed <br />input from the EDA. <br />Commissioner Weatherhead added the following comments: <br />Under strategic goal I Î Economic Development <br />Develop strategies, programs, initiatives, and activities to improve the economic well-being of the <br />City of Centerville, business relationships and the quality of life for Centerville residents. <br /> <br />Priority 1 Î Develop a long-term vision towards development and redevelopment. <br />Commissioner Weatherhead added that a traffic study is needed due to entrance changes and <br />increased traffic volume. <br /> <br />Under Priority 2 Î Develop initiative to recruit, retain and strengthen business partner <br />relationships, Commissioner Weatherhead noted that promoting the Wargo Nature Center could <br />be included in this priority, as well as distribution of welcome packets for new businesses. <br /> <br />Under Priority 3 Î Increase transparency and education in city communications through website <br />redesign, leveraging social media, adding email addresses to city email list, and publication of <br />newsletters to provide information and resources to community members, Commissioner <br />Weatherhead added that the CenterStage program could be mentioned here. <br /> <br />Under priority # 5 Î Recalibrate Pavement Management Plan, Commissioner Weatherhead noted <br />that he would like storm water runoff to be included in this management plan. <br /> <br />Commissioner King asked if the council was going to talk about an opportunity fund for the EDA. <br />Executive Director Statz noted that we could talk about this at EDA and with city council; and we <br />could also meet with the county to talk about leveraging HRA (Housing Redevelopment Authority) <br />funds. Executive Director Statz confirmed that the EDA Strategic Plan communicates that an <br />opportunity fund is part of their plan. <br /> Page 5 of 5 <br /> <br />
