City of Centerville <br />EDA Meeting Minutes <br /> May 18, 2022 <br />2. Communications <br />a. 1737 Main Street <br />b. EDA Appointment <br />c. Holiday lights <br />d. Website Redesign <br />e. EDA Letter to Residents in M1 & M2 <br />Motion by Commissioner Mosher and seconded by Commissioner Remillard to approve the <br />checks as presented. All in favor. Motion carried. <br />VI. REPORTS <br /> 1. AdministratorÓs Report <br />Executive Director Statz reviewed the AdministratorÓs Report as presented in the packet. <br />2. Partner Agency Reports <br />a. Anoka County Regional Economic Development (ACRED) <br />Assistant Administrator Lewis reviewed the report, noting that the PGA 3M Open will take place <br />thth <br />at the TPC in Blaine from July 20 Î July 24. The city submitted a list of invitees, which are <br />included in the packet. <br />Assistant Administrator Lewis also noted that the Quad Area ChamberÓs senior event will take <br />th <br />place from 10am-2pm on Thursday, May 19. The Chamber is expecting good attendance. <br />Assistant Administrator Lewis reported that the Hugo Business Association (HBA) has moved <br />their Kids and Biz event from the spring to the fall; going forward the HBA will have their Easter <br />Egg Hunt in the spring and their Kids and Biz event in the fall. <br />3. Year to Date Financials <br />None <br />4. Ongoing Programs: <br />Executive Director Statz noted that there has been no activity on the Blue Logo program, and that <br />the CenterStage and Business Revolving Loan and Grant programs would be discussed under Old <br />Business. <br /> <br />VII. OLD BUSINESS <br /> <br />1. CenterStage Program Overview & Guidelines <br />Michelle Koch from the Main Street Marketers provided feedback on what she thinks is working <br />and not working on the CenterStage program. Feedback included that businesses owners are leery <br />about the program because we are offering them something free. She also noted that itÓs been <br />confusing for business owners because she is calling on behalf of the EDA, but her email address <br />is not tied directly to the city. Michelle noted that some businesses are simply not interested and <br />others are just too busy. Michelle noted that people were more interested in the program in 2020 <br />when things were more uncertain. Michelle shared that she thinks that one ad in the paper is not <br />enough to really help businesses; she recommends either multiple ads, or the option to assist <br /> Page 5 of 5 <br /> <br />
