City of Centerville <br />Parks and Recreation Meeting Minutes <br />June 1, 2022 <br /> <br /> Motion by Committee Member Peterson, seconded by Committee Member Errickson-Grahek to <br />table V. Unfinished Business, Item #1., a. Emerald Ash Borer DNR Grant Information to the July <br />P & R Meeting. All in favor. Motion carried. <br /> <br />b. Division of Forestry Î Ash Management Guidelines <br /> <br />Included in the packet was a Comprehensive Ash Management Guidelines along with an email from <br />Public Works Director Palzer. He stated that he would be drafting a plan utilizing the following three (3) <br />priorities: and determining and prioritizing the needs of each park: <br /> 1. Remove any trees that are hazards (people, buildings, parking lots, etc., or dead); <br /> 2. Identify and treat selected trees in some or all of the parks (pilot program/aid in <br />diversification and replanting); <br />3. Research types of trees, soils, etc. to assist in repopulation of diseased tree locations <br />starting with Hidden Spring. He stated that Anoka County offers saplings for sale annually. <br /> <br />c. Status of Park Trees Î Trimming or Removal <br /> <br />Director Palzer reported that he and a representative from Langer's Tree Service inventoried trees near <br />trails on the south side of the City and determined that three (3) Popular, three (3) Ash and one Oak would <br />need to be removed, along with trimming of a Weeping Willow tree. Langer Tree Service will be <br />completing the removal and trimming. <br /> <br />Brief discussion ensued regarding the possibility of obtaining a vendor that would provide services to <br />the City for City owned trees and provide reduced/discounted services to residents. <br /> <br />2. Music in the Park Plan <br /> <br />The plan was contained in the CommitteeÓs packet for review. It addresses start time, location, a parking <br />map, directions for food vendors, contains contact information for questions/cancellations, a schedule, <br />opportunities for bands/vendors to market and photo requests. No action was required on this item. <br /> <br />3. Donation/Monument Policy <br /> <br />Ms. Bender provided a copy of the Anoka County policies for park donations and memorials. A draft <br />policy was contained in the committeeÓs packet for discussion. <br /> <br />Motion by Committee Member Peterson, seconded by Committee Member Seeley to table V. <br />Unfinished Business, Item #3., Donation/Monument Policy to the July P & R meeting. All in favor. <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br />An email response was sent to Ms. Blum regarding her donation request for the planting of a tree on the <br />North side of Main Street near the intersection of Dupre Road. She was informed that the future root <br />system of the tree may interfere with underground infrastructure but the City would be happy to discuss <br />placing a tree within a park if desired. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> 2 <br /> <br />
