Value of Adding an Assistant City Administrator Position <br />Adding a new position, specifically an assistant city administrator, adds tremendous value to the <br />city. This position has allowed staff to assign dedicated resources to the city's Economic <br />Development Authority (EDA), and strengthen relationships with partner agencies. This new <br />position also provides added support on high priority projects and initiatives. Further, adding an <br />experienced and knowledgeable local management professional to the Centerville team adds <br />another layer of professionalism to the organization, which falls in line with our organizational <br />resilience and succession planning goals. <br />Over the last six months our Assistant City Administrator has participated in the following: <br />1. Assisting the EDA and Partner Agencies by attending meetings, evaluating programs and <br />revising them as needed, as well as serving as an alternate for the administrator at <br />meetings. <br />2. Expanding and/or Launching new programs and projects: History Niche, Veterans <br />Programming, Website re -design & development of mobile app, Capital <br />Improvement/Spending Plan, City's Communications Plan, Creating Standard Operating <br />Procedures. <br />3. Identifying grants and alternate funding sources for city projects <br />There is still some available bandwidth for the Assistant City Administrator, so added <br />responsibilities over the next six months include: <br />1. Assuming the role of Executive Director for the city's Economic Development Authority <br />(EDA), continuing to carry out board responsibilities mentioned above, and have a more <br />active role with partner agencies and how their programs connect to the city's. <br />2. Taking on leadership roles in various partner agencies. <br />3. Managing the city's marketing and communications plan with strategic effort placed on <br />civic engagement. <br />4. Managing implementation of Council's 2022-2023 Strategic Plan, providing semi-annual <br />updates to the city council. <br />5. Assisting the administrator on special projects. <br />
