City of Centerville <br />EDA Meeting Minutes <br />July 20, 2022 <br />2. Business Appreciation Event <br />The EDA discussed the upcoming Business Appreciation event, noting that they would like to hold <br />it at Hidden Springs this year. They would also like to have a key note speaker, someone who <br />could talk about business -related topic(s) like running your own business. A well -know person in <br />the area or comedian was suggested. The EDA would like to increase business participation, add <br />promotional items to give away, and provide a networking opportunity for local businesses. Staff <br />will work on event logistics, and bring something back to the EDA next month. <br />3. Approval of the EDA logo <br />Discussion ensued about the EDA logo as presented in the packet. <br />Motion by Commissioner Weatherhead and seconded by Commissioner Remillard to <br />approved the EDA logo with the revised established date of 2018. All in favor. Motion <br />carried. <br />4. Election of Officers for 2022 (Vice -President Jim Weatherhead's term expires July <br />30) <br />The EDA elected their 2022 officers as follows: <br />Vice President, Mark Remillard, Executive Director, Athanasia Lewis, Secretary, Athanasia <br />Lewis, Treasurer — Vacancy, Assistant Treasurer, Athanasia Lewis <br />Motion by Commissioner Weatherhead and seconded by Commissioner King to adopt <br />a resolution setting the appointment of officers for 2022, moving Mark Remillard <br />to Vice President, and Athanasia Lewis to Executive Director and Secretary. All in <br />favor. Motion carried. <br />5. Resolution recognizing Jim Weatherhead for his service <br />President Hanzal read the resolution recognizing Commissioner Weatherhead for his service. EDA <br />members thanked Commissioner Weatherhead for his service. <br />Motion by Commissioner King and seconded by President Hanzal to adopt a <br />resolution recognizing Commissioner Weatherhead for his service. All in favor. <br />Motion carried. <br />6. Study by Civic Intelligence <br />Derrick Miedaner presented a proposal, consisting of a catalog of city -owned properties, <br />noting their size, nature, and shovel -readiness. Discussion ensued about the proposed study, <br />an expanded scope of work, and the organization's data analysis capabilities. Derrick also talked <br />about their proprietary database, which allows Civic Intelligence to analyze data, based on <br />defined objectives. After considerable discussion, it was determined that more information about <br />objectives is needed to determine the nature of a revised study; the EDA asked Derrick to revise <br />the scope of work and bring back a few options for further consideration at the next meeting. <br />Page 5 of 5 <br />
