CITY OF CENTERVILLE REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION Agenda Item # Department: Requested Council Meeting Date: August 24, 2022 Administration/Finance _WS 3 TITLE OF ISSUE: American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) - Eligible Project Review BACKGROUND AND SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: Several months ago, the city took in its allocation of ARPA funds (+/- $430,000) through the "loss of public sector revenue" clause. These funds, now have just one simple requirement: they must be used for "Government services". We have until the end of 2024 to use them. Staff would like to discuss two options for spending these funds: 1) simply note their expenditure on normal operation expenses until they run out; 2) take the funds directly into one of our capital funds (street, equipment replacement, parks, etc.) and then spend funds from those pools of money. In either case, it may be valuable to also discuss our list of unfunded or underfunded capital projects that may be moved forward as a result of these funds. COST AND SOURCE(S) OF FUNDING: No cost. REQUESTED COUNCIL ACTION: No formal action requested. Staff seeks direction on how to account for the ARPA funds and which, if any, capital projects to move forward.
