CITY OF CENTERVILLE <br />REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />Agenda Item # Department: Requested Council Meeting Date: <br />August 24, 2022 <br />Engineering <br />_WS 1 <br />TITLE OF ISSUE: <br />Speed Study Request - CSAH 14 <br />BACKGROUND AND SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: <br />A citizen has asked that the City Council consider requesting a Speed Study on CSAH 14 (Main Street) in <br />hopes of raising the speed limit (35 mph) in the area between the Wargo Nature Center entrance and the bridge <br />over the Peltier Lake Outlet channel (see attached map). Immediately after the reconstruction of CSAH 14 <br />(Main Street) in 2009, the 35 mph zone extended further west than it does today. Not long after the new road <br />was put into service, the zone's west end was moved to the east of the bridge (where it is today). <br />City engineering staff does not support this request, as the current location allows proper distance for speed <br />adjustment prior to points of conflict, such as the Wargo entrance, Mound Trail intersection and Fishing Pier. <br />COST AND SOURCE(S) OF FUNDING: <br />No cost. <br />REQUESTED COUNCIL ACTION: <br />No formal action requested.
