CITY OF CENTERVILLE REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION Agenda Item # Department: Requested Council Meeting Date: September 14, 2022 Administration VII.5 TITLE OF ISSUE: Resolution to Apply Park and Recreation Expenditures to Charitable Gambling Proceeds BACKGROUND AND SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: Staff presented the City Council with a list of recommended uses of charitable gambling proceeds at the August 24, 2022 work session. Based on the discussion, there was consensus to apply the proceeds against Park and Recreation operating and capital expenditures as programs benefiting youth which is #7 on the authorized expenditures list from the State of Minnesota. The budgeted operating expenditures total $26,950 for 2022. The capital expenditures total $15,271 for two light poles at LaMotte Park. This will cover nearly all of the proceeds from charitable gambling collected over the past two years. COST AND SOURCE(S) OF FUNDING: Charitable gambling operations at three establishments in Centerville. REQUESTED COUNCIL ACTION: Staff recommends that the City Council approve the Resolution to Apply Park and Recreation Expenditures to Use Charitable Gambling Proceeds.
