CITY OF CENTERVILLE REQUEST FOR ACTION Agenda Item # Department: Requested Meeting Date: VIII.3Administration September 21, 2022 TITLE OF ISSUE: Scope of Work for Downtown Redevelopment Study BACKGROUND AND SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: The EDA has been discussing economic development studies over the last couple of months, and the board decided, at their last meeting, to focus on downtown redevelopment. Based on input received at the last two EDA meetings, staff has created a proposed scope of work for the board's consideration. The proposed scope of work determines: I f mixed-use development is still a viable option in downtown Centerville? If there are specific metrics we would need to meet before mixed-use becomes feasible (i.e., # of trafficcounts, income, rooftops, etc. Are the metrics different in a 1-mile, 3-mile, and 5-mile radius? What it would take for mixed-used development to downtown? Prepare a plan outlining the action steps. TheEDA confirmed at their last meeting that they would like the study to be prepared by a local firm. Staff is requesting approval of the proposed scope of work, and direction on whether to hire or put the project out for bid.
