<br />Approved <br /> <br />CITY OF CENTERVILLE <br />WORK SESSION AND CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />JUNE 21, 2022 <br />5.00 p.m. <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the City of Centerville held their regularly scheduled City Council <br />Work Session meeting on June 21, 2022 in Council Chambers of City Hall and also live streamed by <br />North Metro TV. <br /> <br />WORK SESSION (5:00 PM) <br />I. CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Mayor D. Love called the meeting to order at 5:02 p.m. <br /> <br />II. Roll Call <br /> <br />PRESENT: Mayor D. Love <br /> Council Member Steve King <br /> <br />Council Member Russ Koski (Arrived at 5:02 p.m.) <br />Council Member Darrin Mosher <br />Council Member Michelle Lakso <br />Junior Council Member Danny Peterson (Non-Voting) <br /> <br />ABSENT: City Attorney Kurt Glaser <br /> <br />STAFF: City Administrator Statz <br /> Finance Director DeJong <br /> <br />III. ITEMS OF DISCUSSION <br />1. Population 5,000 Initial Discussion (Item was moved from Item #2) <br /> <br />Administrator Statz reviewed discussions held during Council’s retreat regarding this item. He stated <br />that the impetus to the discussion was the proposal of an apartment building. Additional items discussed <br />were: city services, state aid, lower taxes, better parks, new businesses, pros and cons of population size <br />over 5,000, development of the Vickers property and other locations in Centerville, high/medium/low <br />density areas and senior housing. <br /> <br />2. 2023 Preliminary General Fund Budget (Item was moved from Item #1) <br /> <br />Finance Director DeJong reviewed the Preliminary Budget. Discussion ensued regarding debt services, <br />interest rates on debt, special assessments and payoffs, debt levy, state aid/(LGA), whether or not they <br />should increase the levy, police and fire department increases, and interest rates on bonds. <br /> <br />3.
